Jocelyn, here! I recently posted a “What’s in My Shopping Cart?” for ladies, and thought it would be an appropriate parallel to create a Men’s Edition too! I based this selection loosely off of items that Azim owns, wears, or wants – it’s a curated list of updated classics for every man’s wardrobe.
Going clockwise, starting from the center:
The Ludlow Suit by J.Crew – This classic suit looks great in a lighter shade, and the American wool ensures that it works in that transitional weather between winter and spring, and spring and summer. Before you switch to linen, give this suit a go!
Finn Smartphone Mount – Azim loves biking in the warmer seasons. When he was a student at UBC he biked everywhere, and this smartphone mount would have been the perfect gift! It’s a universal fit for any smartphone and any handlebar – the company even claims that it fits in any pocket, making it super portable. And for 15 euros, it’s worth a try 🙂
Nixon “The Sentry Chrono Leather” Watch – I’m not a huge fan of the current “minimalist” watch trend. You know, the simple faces of Daniel Wellington watches? They’re beautiful to be sure, but I prefer something with details that catch the eye. This Nixon watch has just enough on the face, and I love the beautiful, textured leather strap. Understated elegance!
Artisan Belt – It was the unique colour of this belt that caught my eye (and you’ll see it again in the messenger bag I chose to the left). I would describe it almost as a warm grey. This neutral tone actually makes it easier to pair with, than your typical black or brown belt.
Shinola Leather Care Travel Kit – I think there are a few items in every guy’s wardrobe that will properly make him feel like a grown up. Cufflinks, I think are one, and a shoe-shining kit is another. Caring for your shoes and keeping them in the best shape possible ensures that you not only look your best, but you’re getting your $$$’s worth from your shoes.
Leather Penny Loafers – I don’t see too many men my age wearing penny loafers – and that’s a shame! Is it because they look like a more mature shoe? Are they hard to incorporate into an outfit? Azim actually picked out this basic pair by G.H. Bass, and I’m sure he can give us some styling tips 😉
Coach Metropolitan Courier Bag – Man bags. Let’s talk about the options: There’s a time and a place for backpacks! And not every man requires a briefcase. A good compromise? The messenger bag! Find one in a beautiful colour like this version from Coach, and a gorgeous pebbled leather will serve you well.
“The Granville” tie and pocket square set by SimpleAs Co. – I love SimpleAs Co. because they make it easy for any man to look put together. Are you one of those guys that wonders how to pair ties with pocket squares? Is the funky sock trend overwhelming? Look no further than SimpleAs Co. They curate looks (aka, they do the matching for you), so it’s as easy as picking a set and knowing it works. And the best part? They’re super affordable 🙂 YOU’RE WELCOME!
I hope you enjoyed this guide! If I missed any “must-haves” to shop for, let me know 🙂 Azim and I are always open to recommendations xox
