Happy September! I am back from my trip to Alberta, and the whirlwind of wedding festivities! My boyfriend’s oldest brother got married this past weekend in Edmonton, and it was beautiful. It was a semi-traditional Indian wedding, with ceremonies over a couple days, but they kept it fairly low-key. I had a lot of fun getting my mehndi done, and partaking in all the family activities. The bride looked absolutely STUNNING, I hope I can share some pictures once they are developed! One of my favourite parts of the reception was actually the speeches – that rarely happens, but each one was thoughtful and touching. 🙂
Besides the wedding, I didn’t get too much of a feel for Edmonton because there was just no time! I actually spent a whole day of my trip hospitalized because I had such a bad migraine. Some of my close friends know I suffer from these every couple of months, and they are truly debilitating. This time was the worst though – I had to have an IV and was nauseous to the point of being sick. This may be TMI, but I’m sharing in hopes that any other migraine sufferers out there can share their cures, if any!
So that’s my current life update. It’s September, and I’m working with all engines going on the blog now that I’m home. September just has way too much going on! It’s #NYFW (New York Fashion Week, duh), TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), and pumpkin spice everything is back on the shelves. I am ON IT!
On to my outfit – a combination of printed pants by Ted Baker, and my current favourite black silk top from Banana Republic. I actually bought this top to layer underneath another, but didn’t realize how much I’d love the fit! It was definitely one of my best “staple” buys. These pants are also a lot of fun; I always get complimented when I wear them. When I do printed pants, I tend to keep the rest of the outfit toned down. You can’t go wrong with classic black stilettos and a structured bag!
The best part of this outfit are my beautiful earrings by KG World, my friend Gaby’s line of accessories and swimwear. You can see more on her instagram account, and she will have an etsy store opening soon! Exciting!
Yes, I got photobombed by a squirrel 🙂
Those earrings though!!

Hi Jocelyn. That’s too bad you suffered such a bad migraine (anytime is awful, but on a vacation really trumps the awful!). I had to go to hospital once too when migraine got too bad to deal with and was given a shot of morphine that worked beautifully! It was so bad that to this day I remember crawling on my hands and knees in the middle of the night down the hall to my parents bedroom to ask them to take me to the hospital! All this to say, I know how debilitating migraines are and can sympathize with your plight. If it’s any consolation, the bouts seem to diminish with age! Xoxoxo
Hi Auntie Anne, Daddy told me about that! He is the one who told me to go to the hospital when I called him.
I’m glad you don’t suffer from them that badly anymore. I hope mine also diminish with time!
You look beautiful. I love the pants and the earrings (I don’t wear them, but they are lovely). I will check out your friends line – perhaps a Christmas gift.
Thank you so much Monique <3 It's actually Gabriela from work who sells the accessories! She has more than just earrings, lots of lovely & unique necklaces and bracelets too 🙂
