The Girl in the Cape

The Girl in the Cape

I am so excited to be sharing this post today! It features my favourite outerwear item that I own – my Candace Cape from House of Kcart! It’s a very special piece for me because it was designed by my dear friend Karen, who ventured out and started her own clothing line.

This cape was made right here in Toronto – I was even able to pick the fabric for the lining! Karen and I dipped in and out of the fabric shops on Queen West, and she was very patient with me as I flip-flopped between patterns. Floral? Black and white? Geometric? I decided on a flamboyant metallic print with turquoise and pink fans, naturally.

And just what does one wear with a cape? I’ll be the first to admit that they’re not the easiest item to throw on. But an absolute must is elbow-length gloves, especially in our Canadian weather. These olive beauties are from Banana Republic, and I absolutely love them because they are smartphone compatible! Win!

The best handbag to carry when donning a cape is actually a clutch. I went with my grandma’s snakeskin piece that she’s had since she lived in India! Thanks, ah-po 🙂
