My Month in Moments – january 2020

February 2, 2020 No Comments

January typically feels like the month that will never end, but for me it flew by!

I’ve been working hard during the week, and then spending my weekends blogging or making videos for IGTV – if you’re looking for more fashion how-to’s come check them out 🙂 With my photographer husband living far away, I’m not doing as many styled fashion posts on here, but I’ve found different ways to put my style posts out there!

Here are a few more highlights from this past month:

New Year’s Brunch

Cafe Boulud brunch

Azim and I started off the year with a delicious brunch at Café Boulud. It’s a beautiful restaurant in the Four Seasons, and one of my favourite brunch spots in Toronto. Azim and I both love French food, especially Lyonnaise dishes. Azim had a quenelle (a traditional fish dish from Lyon) and I had oeufs en meurette (an egg dish from Burgundy). I definitely recommend visiting for brunch and trying their prix fixe menu!

Chocolate making workshop

Chocolate Tales
I think our truffles really represent our personalities 🙂

A few girlfriends and I started off the year with a chocolate making workshop with Chocolate Tales. Honestly, I’m not sure which was more fun – the workshop, or the lovely dinner we had beforehand at 7 Numbers 🙂 It was so good that we went back to the restaurant AFTER the workshop to have tea, and share the truffles we made with Mama Rosa and the staff.

I would recommend the chocolate workshop for sure! We learned about the chocolate making process, tasted different types of chocolate with spices mixed in, and made and decorated our own truffles.

snowy walks

When it comes to exercise regimens, I’ve tried them all. Calisthenics, kick boxing, Kayla Itsine’s “bikini body guide”, etc. But you know what? I’ve never found an exercise I love more than walking. Every weekend I go for at least one or two hour-long walks. It clears my head, gives me time to listen to a podcast or audiobook, and makes me feel more in tune with myself.

I’m counting down the days until the sun and flowers return, but I’ve been taking time to appreciate the beautiful snow too.

friendship, wine and cheese

I cherish the time I get to spend with my girlfriends – especially when wine and cheese are involved 🙂

Erotic stories for punjabi widows

This was my favourite book that I read in January. Since I loved Where the Crawdads Sing so much, I figured I’d try another Reese’s Book Club pick – it did not disappoint!

I had absolutely no expectations before reading it, and I was really surprised at how rich this book was. It was a romance, a murder mystery, and also incorporated cultural and feminist themes as well. I would definitely recommend 🙂

Six the musical

My best friend recommended I listen to the Six soundtrack – I normally dislike musicals, with a few rare exceptions. This is one of them. A show that combines Tudor history and pop music? Yes please!!

A synopsis from Wikipedia:

The musical is a modern retelling of the lives of the six wives of Henry VIII presented as a pop concert, as the wives take turns singing and telling their story to see who suffered the most due to Henry and should therefore become the group’s lead singer.

Miss americana

I am an unapologetic Taylor Swift fan. Watching her turn her passion and talent into an explosive career has been inspirational, especially as she’s overcome some pretty hard hits over the years. She’s used her platform for good, and I think she’s an incredible force to be reckoned with.

So that was my January! February promises to be just as awesome – I’ll be seeing Azim after far too long, and celebrating his birthday! I also have a great lineup of Winterlicious menus to try 🙂 Thank you so much for reading! Xox
