The Girl in the Cape

I am so excited to be sharing this post today! It features my favourite outerwear item that I own - my Candace Cape from House of Kcart! It's a very special piece for me because it was designed by my dear friend Karen, who ventured out and started her own clothing line.This cape was made right here in Toronto - I was even able to pick the fabric for the lining! Karen and I dipped in and out of the fabric shops on Queen West, and she was very patient with me as I flip-flopped between patterns. Floral? Black and white? Geometric? I decided on a flamboyant metallic print with turquoise and pink fans, naturally.And just what does one wear with a cape? I'll be the first to admit that they're not the easiest item to throw on. But an absolute must is elbow-length gloves, especially in our Canadian weather. These olive beauties are from Banana Republic, and I absolutely love them because they are smartphone compatible! Win!The best handbag to carry when donning a cape is actually a clutch. I went with my grandma's snakeskin piece that she's had since she lived in India!
