Life Lately

IMG_5553

As winter slowly comes to an end, I too feel as if I’m thawing out from a deep freeze. Here are a few life updates - the things you don’t see on Instagram and Facebook:

Currently…

Reading

The Saturday Style section in the Globe and Mail. My family just switched from the Toronto Star to the Globe and Mail and I wasn’t happy about it at first. The comics in the Globe suck compared to the Star! But my dad started saving the Saturday Style section for me, and I’m a total convert now.Wow, it is SO well curated. I look forward to reading Nathalie Atkinson’s column first, followed by the trend collages, and Jeanne Bekker’s “Stylesetters” interviews. Jamie Oliver also contributes with recipes, and there’s a wine&spirits article if you’re into that :) (which I am).

Watching

I JUST finished binging season 1 and 2 of Broadchurch. I’m actually sitting here, struggling to find the words to tell you how much I LOVED it. It’s a visual feast, and the character development plays out like a beautiful and heartbreaking portrait of humanity.Go watch it, and thank me later!

Wearing

I do try to shop my closet and wear different outfits as frequently as possible. However, I always seem to gravitate towards certain pieces for long periods of time, and at the moment my choice item is J.Crew’s Tippi sweater. It’s just your typical solid, crew-neck sweater, but something about the material and fit just make it perfect for me. I own it in several colours (see it in red here), and have been pairing it with everything lately. It works just as well with skirts or pants, and it’s lightweight enough to fit underneath blazers and jackets without compromising shape or comfort. It’s always good to stock up while they’re on sale!

Eating

THIS kale salad with dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds. For the past few weeks, I’ve been making and bringing my lunch to work in an effort to save cash monies and make healthy choices. Healthy choices = boring. I’m just not that creative in the kitchen! I like what’s easy, and what’s easy for me is pouring this pre-made salad into tupperware. If I have an extra 5 minutes I’ll chop some avocado and cucumber in. This is adulting 101.

Loving

These BEAUTIFUL floral desktop backgrounds. I download all my desktop backgrounds from Design Love Fest, and these are definitely my favourite so far. I even use them on my iPhone (just rotate the photo so it’s vertical), and they perk me up every time I press my screen :) It’s the little things!

Being

Optimisitc!…then 5 minutes later totally anxious…then optimistic again!…and then 5 minutes later I’m convinced I’m making all the wrong choices….and then optimistic! So, basically your average millennial?

Looking forward to

Getting a Fitbit. I think I’ve been saying this for a couple of months now, but I’ve finally decided I’m going to bite the bullet and just buy one. I was having a hard time deciding between the Flex and the Alta, and also wondered if it really would be helpful in changing my lifestyle to incorporate healthier habits. I’ll update you guys in a few months.

Hope you are all having a lovely end to February, spring is just around the corner! xoxo
