BEST THING I DID

By far the best thing I did this past week was take a mini getaway to my bestie’s cottage for a girls weekend. I didn’t realize just how much I needed a break from work, my busy social schedule, and even blogging.We spent the weekend eating incredible food, and drinking our way through many litres of sangria and cider. We laid out on floaties on the lake, and took nice long boat rides. We had a campfire and played card games and just relaaaaxed. It was SO nice. I missed hanging out with my girlfriends, and really cherished our time together…especially because Ali will soon be leaving us for Australia!

BEST THING I WORE

Ok, do you remember when waterfall cardigans were so in style circa 2007-2008? Then shortly after they became really uncool because they were just everywhere?Well, I’m bringing them back.Why did I ever stop loving them? They’re so pretty, they can be worn wrap-style or open, and they’re the perfect transition piece from summer to autumn. They’re also amazing to travel in!I pulled this grey one out my closet at my parents’ place, and I’ve been wearing it all weekend. It’s a cashmere blend, and I bought it from the Victoria’s Secret catalogue of all places (although this was a loooong time ago). I have the same one in pink, and I think the last time I wore them was when I went to London and Paris with Azim for the first time.Welcome back, waterfall cardi!

BEST THING I ATE

The pastries from Shirini Sara Pastry House in North York. WOW. So good!! This Iranian bakery is a true Toronto gem. They specialize in Persian desserts and French pastries, and the shop itself has a rich history. Its owners used to run a bakery in Tehran, before immigrating to Canada after the Islamic revolution. Their bakery in Tehran was so successful and so popular that even the royal family (at the time) placed orders with them. Now, Toronto is lucky to have them. If you’re ever in the area, make sure you stop by and try a little bit of everything.

BEST THING I SAW

I watched Arrival with Azim and really enjoyed it! I had low expectations going in because I thought it would just be another run-of-the-mill alien invasion movie, but it was actually very unique. The nonlinear/remembering-the-future kind of theme was well done, and I also really liked the sounds and soundtrack. It’s on Netflix now, so I recommend it if you’re looking for something to watch :)

I started therapy in my late twenties, and have been going on and off ever since. When I first tried it, it was because I was slowly wading through a cycle of depression triggered by a specific situation at work, and I felt desperate for help. I’m very glad I sought it out, because it’s been life-changing.
