Weekly Bests 2019.3

Another jam-packed week! January has flown by – I remember last year, each week felt as long as a month, but this year time has passed in the blink of an eye.

UX/UI Design Class at Red Academy

To stick with our New Year’s Resolution of trying something new each month, Hanan and I decided to go to a UX/UI class at Red Academy! My friend Cody had suggested it, since I’ve been looking into various “next steps” for my career, and Hanan thought it might tie in nicely with the courses she’s currently taking. Cody helpfully tagged along, and I had a lovely time seeing them both. I enjoyed the subject matter of the class a lot, and would definitely consider taking a career step that includes facets of UX. I’m definitely adding this book to my reading list!

Monthly Brunch Tradition with my GFs

My two girlfriends, Marilee and Laura, and I have started a monthly brunch tradition! We take turns hosting, and trying various delicious recipes (baked eggs, pancakes, croissant French toast), and chatting for hours. Mimosas are mandatory. This time Laura hosted, and we had yummy avocado toast with eggs and feta on top! We also added Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Sesame seasoning, which is AMAZING. AHMAAAAZZING. We went to town with chocolate chip pancakes, and Laura had the genius idea of adding biscoff spread as a topping – I am having happy foodie flashbacks thinking about it now.Marilee and I took turns flipping pancakes, and I successfully shaped one into Mickey Mouse – just like my parents used to do for me when I was little :)

Winterlicious at Auberge du Pommier

Another tradition I always look forward to is going for lunch/dinner with my mom at Auberge du Pommier during Winterlicious. We went for lunch this time so that we could go veil shopping afterwards (woohoo!). Auberge is always a wonderful experience – the service is impeccable and the food is delicious. I enjoyed my tomato soup, meltingly perfect flank steak, and chocolate peanut butter dessert. My mom had a great Caesar salad, trout, and almond & olive oil cake. The almond & olive oil cake came with a tart, rich crème fraiche ice cream. It was the stand out dish for us for sure – my mom asked for the recipe!

Taylor Swift’s Reputation Tour on Netflix

I watched this on Saturday night, and could not have had a better time! I truly regret not going to the concert back in August when she was in Toronto. She is such a good performer. I know she gets a lot of hate, but I couldn’t respect her more. I think she is a great artist who really cares about her fans, and I was in awe of her when she took that asshole to court and spoke up for women/survivors of sexual harassment and assault everywhere.

Family Dins at The Wren

This week was filled with good food! My brother took us to The Wren for dinner tonight, and we left full and happy. The Wren has one of those menus where you have a hard time narrowing down which dish to pick. All of it is so good!! My brother’s burger was EPIC (I think their burgers are quite popular), my mom had flavourful falafel, and I had exceptionally good green chili chicken. We will be back for sure!

Lipstick of the week

This week I’m wearing one of my favourite “nudey pink” shades – Bitch Perfect by Charlotte Tilbury. This is a wonderful everyday lipstick! It’s easy to apply, feels comfortable to wear, and has good staying power considering it’s not a liquid lipstick. I still prefer the NARS Audacious lipstick formula, but I would 100% repurchase this. I love the rose gold packaging. It feels luxe and beautiful. Thanks for reading, and have a good week ahead! Xox
