Banging out a very quick blog post to sharea few highlights:

Summerlicious

Frame game is strong

As my wedding date approaches, the hours in each day seem to slip by more and more quickly. I haven’t had time this summer to even consider knocking off my favourite items off my Toronto Summer Bucket List, but I was at least able to cross off one – Summerlicious!

My mom and I traditionally go to Auberge du Pommier, but this time around we decided to try something new. Albeit, we stuck to a French restaurant (we like what we like)!

My mom met me after work and we made our way to Bacchanal in the west end of town. It’s a beautiful restaurant (think plush velvet seating, jewel tones, good lighting), and they have a GREAT happy hour! It's 5:30-7:30 featuring $5 pints and $7 glasses of wine!

Their Summerlicious menu offerings were also superb. I had galettes with foie gras, steak frites, and Paris brest. My mom had incredible tuna starter, fish, and a delightfully tart lemon tart ;)

The showstopper for me was my cocktail, the Claire de Lune. Its lovely name was matched by its smooth texture and perfect mix of liquors. The sweet little goblet packed a punch. If I had had another, my mom would have had to carry me to our uber.

Of course, the best part of my evening was spending time with my mom. She is my rock; she makes life so much easier for me, so that I can go out and accomplish big things. I would never have been able to get through the past couple of months of interviews, starting a new job, and wedding planning without her.

The Clockmaker’s Daughter and Educated

I’m well behind on my New Year’s Resolution of reading 35 books :( But between the plane rides and wifi-less commutes I’ve had recently, I’ve been able to cross two off.

I am late to the game, but absolutely LOVED Educated. Wow. I read the entire book in one sitting (Reykjavik -> Toronto), and truly could not put it down. Azim had downloaded the new season of Stranger Things (which I watched later and loooooved as well!!), but I was so absorbed in this story. There’s a reason why it made so many top lists, and was under everyone’s Christmas tree last year. It is eye opening and inspirational.

I always enjoy a good historical fiction, and can count on Kate Morton to deliver. The Clockmaker’s Daughter took me a little longer to get through because of the multitude of storylines and overlapping timelines, but it came together beautifully. It’s a good book to read if you need to forget about your life for a little bit.

I’ve been spending a lot of time puttingtogether the slideshow that we’ll be playing on a loop during the wedding,which means a lot of flipping through old photo albums. It’s been so much funseeing pictures of my mom and dad when they were my age, and to reminisce aboutmy own childhood and a time before smartphones, social media, and hyperconnectedness.

Here are a few favourites :)

This is one of my favourite pictures - when my Ah-Po immigrated to Canada, she founded, owned, and worked at her salon with her sister for decades. This is clearly where I developed my good work ethic, because I was on the job at a very early age :)

My Bachelorette

As with all wedding-related content, this will have its own post. My bachelorette was one of the best nights of my life, because my best friend and amazing bridal party took so much time to make it the most “me” night ever. Over the top cocktails, dancing, a massive late night French fry delivery, but best of all – spending time with the people I love most all together.
