His & Hers

Hello! We're so excited to be sharing our first His&Hers Style post! We went with a formal theme, since the holidays are coming up and that means lots of holiday parties! I also just wanted an excuse to wear this gorgeous Tory Burch gown - because honestly the next time I wear it will probably be on my couch while binging on Christmas cookies and watching bad TV :) I'm not much of a party animal. And I like dressing up for no reason!Azim opted for some more festive details with the green on his tie and the red polkadots on his socks. Besides that, he kept it pretty classic. We decided to make this post a mini FAQ, since we seem to get asked the same things over and over. If you have any other questions you think we missed, please leave a comment below. We love interacting with our readers![line]What does the "Caithness" in Jocelyn Caithness mean? And how do you pronounce it?J: Caithness is my aunt's middle name, and a beautiful name at that. It's one that I'm drawn to, and it felt like a natural "fit" for my blog. It's also the place in Scotland where my ancestors resided - it's waaay up in the north and I hope to visit one day! It's actually not pronounced "Katniss", like the character from The Hunger Games! It's pronounced like this: "Kayth-ness" or "Kayt-ness" depending on your accent :)[line][line]Why did you decide to start a fashion blog? J: I have always loved blogs. I think my interest started back in 2005 or 2006, when they were just livejournal and geocities pages filled with people's daily ramblings. Blogs became a way for me to find the coolest music, find great book recommendations, and eventually find inspiration for my personal style. In the past I kept a private blog, just as a space for me to "curate" all the wonderful things I found on the internet, and to write about my life candidly. It took one great push from Azim for me to actually venture out and start Jocelyn Caithness. Now that I've started, I wish I had a lot sooner! It is something I look forward to every day, and it is such a fulfilling project. I love writing, I love finding cool things to do in Toronto, I love FOOD, but most of all I love styling outfits. Shopping my own closet and putting together outfits is a passion of mine, and I hope I am able to provide just a little bit of inspiration to others. You know when someone asks you, "If you could do anything at all if money weren't an issue, what would you do?" My answer would definitely be this.[line][line]Does Jocelyn choose all of Azim's outfits?J: Absolutely not!A: No, she doesn't, and this is something that I've been asked a lot! Jocelyn has great taste, so I always ask her what she thinks before I walk out the door or when we're shopping.I think my fashion sense comes from my late grandpa. He always dressed well, whether he was going casual or formal - it definitely rubbed off on me and my brothers.[line][line]How long have you and Azim been together?J: We've been together for 5 and a half years! That's almost an eternity for millennials :)How did you guys meet? A: Grade 11 Chemistry class. Our teacher arranged the seating so that we were sitting beside each other. I couldn't take my eyes off of her (not in a creepy way)... We didn't start dating until much after... I must admit, I had a crush on her for a long time![line][line]What camera do you use? Is Azim a photographer?A: I guess I am a photographer now... I'm using a Canon Rebel T5i and it's absolutely amazing. If you're planning on getting a SLR camera, I would definitely recommend it. I'm slowly becoming obsessed with picture taking - camera lenses are on my Christmas list![line]What are your favourite places to travel? Do you have any trips planned?J: Azim and I both LOVE to travel. We would relish the opportunity to go anywhere and everywhere in the world!I'd have to say a favourite for me would be Paris. I've lived there with my family, I've travelled there many times, it was one of the first trips Azim and I took together (and I always say it's when I knew I'd be with him forever - EW GROSS I know so cheesy).I also adore New Orleans and hope to go back soon! Although my next "bucket list" place to travel is probably South America. We don't have any future plans to go down south yet, but a trip to France next year might be in the works...A: I've been very, very fortunate to have been able to travel as much as I have. When it comes to big cities, Paris was definitely my favourite - for me, it beats NYC and London. Jocelyn and I have such great memories there :)In terms of exotic places, I've seen India and lots of East Africa. I recently traveled to Indonesia and it was incredible - probably my favourite place traveled thus far. I would love to go to South East Asia again one day.I've heard great things about South Africa - I think I'd like to go their next, but I may need to settle with South America. I have been working on my Spanish...[line]Thank you so much for reading! xoPictures by our talented friend Samad RajanOn Jocelyn: Dress - Tory Burch (old, found at Marshalls!) / Earrings - Vintage / Shoes - Ivanka Trump / Lippie - Kat Von D "Exorcism" / Nails - Trust Fund Beauty "Denim with Diamonds"On Azim: Suit - J.Crew Ludlow / Shirt - Nautica / Tie - Fred Perry / Square - J.Lindeberg / Shoes - TOPMAN / Socks - Polo Ralph Lauren
