Butterflies
Hello, lovely readers!Thank you for sticking with me, even through my light posting over the last couple of weeks. Azim and I have both had to kick it into high gear at work, and unfortunately that meant sacrificing time for photoshoots. We also took some time to hit pause and refresh, so we have some cool new ideas for Jocelyn Caithness coming up :) I truly believe in taking breaks, because burn out is a very real problem.
I've also dedicated some time each week to doing things I love. Instead of In addition to shopping, I've spent a lot of time styling my own closet. I used to read fashion magazines cover to cover, and would imagine how I could make the editorial outfits work with pieces I already owned. I would circle the ones I loved with a sharpie, and then I would write my version of each outfit down in my notebook. I had pages filled with awesome outfit ideas, using clothes I already owned!Now, with the convenience of Pinterest, I never really do that anymore. I love how beautifully curated Pinterest is, but it's almost too easy. The act of imagining and writing down my thoughts really brings out my creative side, and I so prefer that to just clicking and forgetting.
I also finally read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. Wow, I can't believe it took me this long! I absolutely loved it. It had been awhile since I picked up a classic novel, and it's my goal in 2016 to read at least 5 of them. So 1 down, and 4 to go :) I have Tess of the D'urbervilles next on my list, and I'm always open to suggestions!
So let's talk about these SHOES. These Sophia Websters have to be the most show-stopping pair that I own. And would you believe me if I told you that Azim chose them? Yes, if there was ever a sign that we are perfect for one another, this is it ;) He got them for me for Christmas and totally nailed it! Best gift ever! I had never seen them before, but he just knows me too well. I get stopped every time I wear them, and people (mostly men!!) ask if they can take a picture.
These shoes deserve all the attention, so I toned down the rest of my outfit with classic pieces. A white oxford shirt, beige trench, and tan clutch. I also love the cut of these pants - they're called cropped flares, and they're surprisingly easy to wear! This was my first time trying them out, but I think they'll become a wardrobe staple going into spring and summer. And I'll leave you with this confession: it took me FOUR tries to do my eyeliner. I suck hard at doing my own eye makeup! False eyelashes, eyeliner, even blending eyeshadow - I do not get better with practice, I get OWNED. I need to move in with someone who can do my makeup for me every morning.
